I have been a fan of Bill & Ted duology for a long time and when I first heard the rumors of a threequel I got very emotional about this as I wanted to see the return of these rockers and see what they come up with 20+ years later. Turns out - nothing much has changed. I just hate the sequels that are made after a very long period of time and propose this annoying idea that everything is still the same and life still goes on the way it was back in the days or more so that it is exactly as we expected it would turn out to be; and I know why it's done: so that the transition between the movies is smoother. The characters are still relatable dumbasses as we left them in Bogus Journey (1991) only older but none the more wiser. The race for the perfect song that will unite the world is still on only this time their time is running out (but why should the great ones have to wait until the last minute to tell them that? so that the movie can happen, naturally. I can't say I thoroughly enjoyed this movie as much as the first two but I liked the message it sent, despite it being clearly said to us at the end, as if we're stupid and couldn't have guessed it ourselves. It was also nice to see Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter back together again, their chemistry is really something extraordinary. Overall I feel like this sequel, like most of the sequels nowadays, is absolutely unnecessary as it is a) bringing absolutely nothing new to the table in terms of either storytelling, character development or new ideas and b) tries to play on nostalgia but fails because it just reminds us of the past days when movies didn't have to have a sequel to be successful on its own. Sometimes we all have to face the music that we've created, listen to it, enjoy it and not try to replicate it over and over again.
